Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art that focuses entirely on ground fighting. Unlike striking arts, BJJ is built on the concept that a smaller person can successfully defend against a larger, stronger opponent by using proper leverage and positional control. The primary goal is to take the conflict to the ground, establish a dominant position, and apply a submission hold to neutralize the situation safely and decisively. It is a highly technical, strategic discipline that develops both physical conditioning and practical self-defense skills.
Gi Jiu-Jitsu: Trained wearing the traditional kimono (Gi). This style emphasizes control, grips, and leverage using the fabric of your opponent’s uniform. It is a highly technical, strategic style of grappling.
NoGi Jiu-Jitsu: Trained in athletic wear (rashguard and shorts or spats). Without the grips provided by the Gi, NoGi relies more on body control, overhooks, underhooks, and dynamic movement.
To ensure safety and proper technical progression, classes are categorized as follows:
Open Classes: Designed for everyone from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Focuses on fundamental movements, core positions, safe defensive concepts, and controlled drilling.
Advanced Classes: Reserved for experienced practitioners with a Green Belt or higher. These sessions focus on more complicated sequences, high-intensity situational sparring, and refined competition strategy.
Live Rounds: These sessions focus on technical rolling. Designed for safe, skill-focused development, these sessions allow you to refine your timing, sharpen your decision-making, and build live-action confidence at a controlled intensity. Participation is completely voluntary, giving you the space to practice your techniques and progress at your own pace.
