Real Self-Defense, Built on Control
As a parent, you want your child to be confident and capable of handling bullying, but without resorting to violence. That is why our youth curriculum focuses on the most effective grappling martial arts in the world, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Wrestling.
Rather than teaching children to punch or kick—which often violates school zero-tolerance policies and escalates conflicts—we teach your child how to safely close the distance, neutralize a threat, and use leverage to control an attacker. It is a highly effective, non-violent approach to self-defense that keeps everyone safe.
Your child’s safety is our absolute top priority. Our coaches cultivate a positive atmosphere where every student is encouraged to do their best. We emphasize clear communication, proper technique, and closely supervised training, ensuring your child can learn, grow, and have fun every time they step onto the mats.
What should my child wear to class?
Shorts or athletic pants, and a t-shirt. No tank tops or clothing with zippers. Fingernails and toenails should be trimmed short. Training is performed barefoot on clean mats.
Why are classes only one day per week on Saturdays?
From our 25 years of experience teaching children, we designed this schedule to provide the most effective and sustainable experience for both students and parents. Training once a week better aligns with a younger student’s maturity level and attention span, keeping them engaged while preventing burnout. Our Saturday-only format is much easier for working families to manage alongside busy weekday routines, allowing us to offer the program at a highly accessible and convenient price. If a family is looking for a more intensive training regimine, private lessons are a great option.
Why focus on grappling only?
We intentionally defer striking instruction until students reach age 16. Children are still developing both the physical capacity and the emotional maturity required to practice striking safely and responsibly. Prior to age 16, our curriculum focuses exclusively on control-based grappling (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling). This foundation teaches youth how to manage physical conflict through leverage, balance, and restraint—maximizing personal safety on the mats while ensuring they possess the judgment and emotional discipline needed before ever introducing high-impact techniques.
